Floating Suction System
A floating suction unit that draws product from just below the liquid surface instead of from the tank bottom, so that water and sediment accumulated at the bottom are not carried into the pump and process equipment. It consists of buoyancy chambers that hold the inlet at the correct depth, a flexible pipe string and swivel joints. It is designed case by case for the tank diameter, storage product and roof type, and is often combined with an oil skimmer.
